Why I play poker online

The world of poker has changed quite dramatically in the last few years. A big part of this has been because of the television coverage that poker now enjoys. This popularity has also increased the number of people playing the game. Most players these days play online. While some traditionalists may disagree there are a lot of benefits to playing poker online.

The main reason that I play poker online is that it is just so convenient. I can play anytime I want and I don't have to go to the hassle of going to the casino. Playing poker in a casino is a lot of fun but in order to do it I have to drive across town and then even when you get there there is invariably a waiting list to get into a game. None of these are issues with online poker, I can sit down and start playing anytime that I want to. In addition I can play at more than one table at a time if I want to, this really speeds up play.

I also like to play poker online because there is a lot more money to be won. Since there are a lot more players there is a lot more money being bet. That means there is more to win. Especially when you are playing at more than one table. In addition a lot of the players online are not very experienced and quite frankly not very good. That greatly increases the chances that I can make money playing online. The players in the casinos are usually much better and much more experienced.

One of the reasons that the players in the casinos are usually better players is that most people prefer to learn to play online. I know that I did. Nobody wants to look foolish as they try to figure out how to play the game. That means that most new players like to play online with nobody there to see their mistakes while they are learning. I know that I felt much more comfortable learning to play without having a bunch of experienced players sit and watch me make all of those silly mistakes.

Another reason that I play poker online is that you can usually play games that you wouldn't otherwise be able to play. If you go to most casinos the only game that you are going to see being played is hold'em after you download the poker software. However for a lot of players this isn't the game that they want to play. There are other games that are normally preferable for the experienced player because they reward skill more than hold'em does. It is a lot easier to find these games online than it is in the casinos. Certainly if you look hard enough you can find casinos that offer the other games but that takes a lot of effort.
